Ditko Beetle Designs!

While surfing Google images for more Blue Beetle goodness I stumbled on this...

The page it was linked to says this is a page from Ditko's sketchbook showing his early designs for Ted Kord's costume...a design that remained more or less intact and unchanged from 1966, even as the character moved from Charlton to DC, until Ted's death in 2005!

  1. Wow, great find! Ditko had a real eye for costume design. Consider BB & Spider-Man two of the all-time best costumes.

  2. I've looked at this a few times...and I keep thinking BB should have had his own cartoon! For some reason it screams animation to me, like the Alex Toth Super Friends designs

    1. It's too bad Charlton wasn't really interested in its comic books. BB has all the ingredients to be hit: great costume, fantastic vehicle, nifty gadgets, strong supporting cast, and even a few memorable villains given such a short publication life. Certainly appeals to me more than Wolverine.

  3. Please, I´m looking for the Blue Beetle´s Bug plan/design that I saw in http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/heroclix-vehicles-are-coming/.
Could someone say where can I find this? What site?
    Thanks.

    1. This was released a few years ago, and most online retailers list it as out of stock. That said you can still find it on eBay, usually going for around $50
