Super-Team Family Sunday #13

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday! This time Ross gives us a nifty little "What If?" scenario...and it works! Can't you see Ben Grimm fitting right in with the old Justice League International team? I sure can!

I hope all you Beetlemaniacs have enjoyed these comicbook mash-ups of Ross Pearsall. I think I've tapped all of his Blue Beetle related material for now...but if we hold our breath, make a wish, and count to three*, maybe he'll put together a few more? In the mean time make sure you check out his page to see many, many more inspired team-ups that never where!

*seemed as good a spot as any for a "Willy Wonka" reference

Super-Team Family Sunday #11

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday!

Of this teaming of Spidey and Ted Kord, Ross said..."I teamed Spider-Man with the Dan Garrett Blue Beetle before, but this is the pairing that I would really like to see. I still miss Ted Kord in the DCU, and I don't see any reason that he and Jaime Reyes can't operate at the same time. Of course, even Peter Parker has been killed off and replaced these days (in two separate universes, no less!), so Ted Kord is in good company. The clear difference is that we all know that Parker will be back one way or another by the time his next film is out, but Kord's fate seems a lot more permanent. Hopefully, he will have a chance to return sometime down the line."

Super-Team Family Sunday #9

YES! Ross Pearsall the genius behind Super-Team Family has done a new Blue Beetle team up! Most of the posts I've put up so far of his incredible comic book mash-ups have been...well...back issues. This Blue Beetle/Avengers team-up though was just posted by Ross last week!

Enjoy!

Super-Team Family Sunday #8

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday!

This month we get Blue and Gold with Marvel's Defenders! Ross had this to say..."I can't imagine a team featuring this group would last that long, but is sure would be fun to watch. I was always surprised that with all of the spin-offs to Giffen/DeMatteis and Maguire's 80's Justice League, that DC never put out a Blue and Gold series. They were one of the best buddy teams in comics and I'm sure it could have been a fun romp. Alas, Ted Kord was killed off, so chances are slim we will ever see such a series. Nobody ever stays dead forever in comics though, so there's always hope."

Super-Team Family Sunday #6

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday! If you've been enjoying these make sure to head over to Ross Pearsall's blog Super-Team Family: The Lost Issues for more of the "greatest team-ups that never happened...but should have!"

On this Blue Beetle/Beast mash-up, Ross said..."A lot of team ups I present here will be with characters that seem to have a natural connection... but a lot will also feature teams that I just think would be cool to see. This is one of those. It isn't too far out of left field though, I can see Hank McCoy and Ted Kord commiserating on some scientific breakthrough together, when a villain attacks and action ensues. This cover also features these characters in my favorite incarnations. The new Blue Beetle is an entertaining character in his own right, I just wish we didn't have to get rid of his predecessor in order to make room. The Beast is back on an Avengers team, which I like - but he still has that weird Beauty and the Beast/Kittycat look that he developed during the Grant Morrison era ox the X-men titles. I really wish he would go back to his cooler Bronze Age look."

In Ross' first Blue Beetle themed entry of his blog Super-Team Family: The Lost Issues, we got a great Batman/Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) team-up that might have been. This month we get a taste of some golden age goodness that could have been!

These covers never cease to amaze me!

Super-Team Family Sunday #4

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday! This month Ross returns with another cover featuring the Thing...and this time with Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes.

At the time this was originally posted (May 2, 2011) Ross said..."I was among the many Ted Kord fans that was not happy when the Blue Beetle was killed off to kick off a DC Comics crossover. Despite that, I decided to give his replacement, Jaime Reyes, a chance and I have to admit that I do like the character quite a bit. I really loved the look of the new Beetle armor that Cully Hamner designed - it really makes him stand out among the rest of their heroes - and Jaime was written with an appealing personality. I even got a kick out of his appearances on the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon (not so much the recent Smallville appearance - the armor was way too clunky). This new Blue Beetle is definitely a welcome new presence in the DCU. That said, there was no reason he could not have been introduced while still keeping Ted Kord alive as well!"

Super-Team Family Sunday #3

Welcome to another Super-Team Family Sunday!

Ross says..."Here's another guy who would fit right in at Ben's poker table. Ted is still deceased in the comics but is one of the harder working dead guys in the business what with flashbacks, time travel stories and his appearance on Batman: The Brave and the Bold. It's nice to see him getting some post-death visibility, but hopefully DC will bring him back for real one of these days."

Super-Team Family Sunday #1

If you love comics and mash-ups you may already be familiar with Ross Pearsall's blog Super-Team Family: The Lost Issues!  If not, enjoy this pic and be sure to check out his page for more!

Ross said..."Hawkeye's first mini-series back in 1983 was a great read.  It was the first time I had ever seen the Avenging Archer in his own title and  I wondered what took so long for him to get his shot. It was a fun story with real repercussions and beautiful Brett Breeding artwork.  I thought it would be cool to see Hawkeye team up with Ted Kord - they are both non powered heroes who can nevertheless fit in with the big guys due to their skills and tenacity."
