Blue Beetle is Back!

You may have seen me post this on Facebook and Twitter if you follow the blog on either site...

While trying to come up with a way to announce the return of the blog, I whipped up this image. I thought it captured the humor many of us associate with Ted Kord's Blue Beetle. Not only that, it's very accurate, albeit tongue in cheek...Blue Beetle is back! Keith Giffen and Scott Kolins are behind the return of Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes as part of DC's Rebirth. We're already two issues into the main book and it's already full of action...and questions! If the conversation I had with Keith Giffen at the Baltimore Comic-Con this year is any indication...things will be getting VERY interesting as this book goes on!

My post looking at the final issue of the 1986 DC run of "Blue Beetle" will be coming up in a couple weeks. Is that the end of Ted? Absolutely not! I have a plan, a way to keep Ted in the spotlight here at Kord Industries...it's a little "extreme" and in a way it involves time travel! You see where I'm going with this, right?

Starting in January I'm going to begin covering the 1960's Charlton adventures of Ted Kord, from both "Captain Atom" and his own book, and alternate that with the 90's DC team book, "Extreme Justice"...featuring Blue Beetle, along with Captain Atom and Booster Gold!

All that, plus golden age Dan Garret adventures from Fox Features Syndicate, and the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle stories from the mid 2000's...whether you're a fan of the golden or silver age, Ted Kord or Jaime Reyes, if you're a fan of the post Crisis DCU or the New 52, from Rebirth and beyond...if it's Blue Beetle you want, Kord Industries is the place!

Blue Beetle: 1st Thursday with Luke Daab

I know I said I was taking some time off this month...but this was way too good to hold back! The multi-talented Luke Daab (seriously....you should hear him sing!) recently mentioned drawing Blue Beetle on Facebook, and why he hadn't done it sooner. I replied, wondering why I hadn't asked for a commission from him sooner myself...after all, I do run a Blue Beetle blog! I messaged him and BOOM! The result is below!

Pretty fantastic huh?  Want to see more of Luke's work, maybe commission something yourself? Check him out at Daab Creative, and on Patreon! You'll be glad you did!

Apologies, delays...and a brief hiatus

Beetlemaniacs, due to some things both good and bad in my life, I've had to make the tough call to take a brief hiatus from blogging.

The bad? My full time job is for a large telecommunications company. My office is currently going through some growing pains, and as a result my schedule has become...well challenging. Longer than normal shifts coupled with frequently changing hours and days off has made it difficult for me to keep up with some basic stuff around the house, let alone maintaining Kord Industries and the Phantom's Skull Cave.

The good? My time outside of that swirling storm that is work has been dedicated to planning my future! I'm engaged, wrapping my head around an upcoming wedding...and looking into going back to school!

Fear not...I'm not abandoning you or the blog! For the last few years I've used October, December and April as sort of skip months. Traditionally that has meant covering Halloween and Holiday themes in fall and winter, and random topics in spring.

This year though I'm going to take those months off...well at least October and December. I'll be back in November to cover the last of the 1986 DC Blue Beetle series and with some luck I'll be getting in the reviews of the new post Rebirth Blue Beetle series as well.

Keep an eye out here and on Facebook for more updates...and thanks for your support and understanding!

Don't Get Mad, Get Even!

This is it Beetlemaniacs, the penultimate issue of the 1986 run! Only one issue to go after this! Len Wein, Don Heck and Danny Bulanadi are here for issue #23, and we even get two returning rogues as part of the big send off! Sit back and enjoy "Don't Get Mad, Get Even!"
